Pam Catt has been selected Commerce Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Catt teaches Special Education for 6-12th grade at Commerce. She received her Bachelor’s in History Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1996. She received her Master's in Special Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1998. Mrs. Catt has taught for twenty-four years, twenty-three of those at Commerce. Mrs. Catt has received numerous awards in her career. She was awarded the Oklahoma Governor's Arts in Education award in 2019. She was also awarded the Commerce Public Schools' Teacher of the Year for 2018-2019. Mrs. Catt was recognized as the Commerce Masonic Teacher of Today in 2004 and was awarded the Alexander Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2003-2004.
The Commerce School District is extremely fortunate to have Mrs. Catt working in our schools. She is a valuable asset to her students and co-workers and a treasured member of our team.
Mrs. Catt is now eligible to apply for the 2023 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. The announcement of the 2023 Teacher of the Year will take place in February of 2023.
A reception will be held to honor Mrs. Catt, along with Alexander Elementary School's Teacher of the Year, Shari Sharp, and Commerce Middle School's Teacher of the Year, Jerry Karnes, on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the Board of Education Building, 217 Commerce Street in Commerce.
