Bruce Rhodes has been selected Commerce Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year. Mr. Rhodes teaches Mathematics at Commerce High School. He also is the Head High School Girls’ Track Coach and Assistant High School Softball Coach. He received his Associates Degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A & M, his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Northeastern State University. Mr. Rhodes has taught for thirty-one years, the past seven at Commerce High School. Mr. Rhodes was also the Commerce High School Teacher of the year in 2018 and was an All-State Softball Coach in 1992.
The Commerce School District is fortunate to have a teacher of Mr. Rhodes’ caliber. He cares about his students and wants each and every student to have a bright future. He is proud of his former students that have went on to have successful careers. He motivates students to achieve more than they think they are capable of achieving. Mr. Rhodes truly is an outstanding teacher.
Mr. Rhodes is now eligible to apply for the 2021-2022 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. The 2021-2022 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year ceremony will be held in February of 2021.
A reception will be held at a later date to honor Mr. Rhodes, along with Alexander Elementary Schools’ Teacher of the Year, Mindy Hailey, and Commerce Middle Schools’ Teacher of the Year, Michele Martin.
